Blu-Ray Disk

Blu-ray Disc is a optical disc it just like the DVD format. It is made by the plastic same size as the CDs and DVDs and it’s size is 120mm diameter and 1.2mm thick. It is four types-

• Single layer 25GB
• Dual layer 50GB
• Triple layer 100GB
• Quadruple layers 128GB

Blu-ray Disc Invention:

First Blu-ray Disc concept introduced in October 2000.And first Blu-ray Disk was released in April 2003 in Japan. But it is available in market in June 2006.

Blu-ray Disc mechanism:

Blu-ray Disc used blue laser to read the disc data where DVD is used red laser for read data. Blue laser density is more than the red ray at this why this disc can contain the more data than the DVD. The information density of the DVD format was limited by the wavelength of the laser diodes used. Following protracted development, blue laser diodes operating around 400nm became available on a production basis.
